Chapter 1 The music was blasting loud through the speakers of the car, and Livia closed her eyes. She never was a morning person, and she quickly moved the sunglasses in her hair down on her nose to keep her eyes free of the day light. She was used to the rockish melodies her brother listened to, and normally, she enjoyed it, since they pretty much had the same tastes, but it was too early for her ears. She decided to remain silent about it though, knowing it was also too early to argue.
He was not really her brother. In fact, they didn't even have any blood link. Jared's mother and Livia's father had fallen in love years ago, and it didn't take them long to decide they wanted to form a big dysfunctional family, to the annoyance of their children. Along with Jared, Livia had inherited of a step-sister, Emilie, who loved getting in other people's business ; especially her brother's, while Jared had to put up not only with Livia, but also with her brother Max who was right in the middle of an identity crisis.
Things were rarely easy, and their house had become a battlefield. Most of the time, Livia and Jared were out with some friends, -not together, obviously-, to get away from everyone, and get some time to think. It was always difficult to live in that kind of environment, so they were often gone, and with luck, in the weekend, they'd get back either really late, or only the next morning.
It's not that Livia and Jared couldn't get along, it's more than they didn't want to. Most of the time, they were both partying with a different crowd of friends who never really talked to each other's, although they went to the same school. Livia often had her head way up in the clouds, while Jared was more down-to-earth. It would make Livia roll her eyes ; she thought he took school way too seriously. She had an other philosophy about taking time to live your life plenty, while Jared would have his nose stuck in a book whenever exams or school works were coming. He said she should be more serious, she said he shouldn't waste a minute on anything else but having fun. Both of them, though, were very alike ; Jared also loved partying, and Livia would get good grades no matter what. For any parents, these two seemed like perfect kids. But what they don't know can't hurt them.
"Where do you want me to drop you?" Jared wondered, keeping his eyes on the road.
Livia turned to him, jumping in surprise ; she had almost fallen back asleep.
"Here, it'll be fine."
Moving his hand carefully on the wheel, Jared parked the car and turned to his step-sister with a grin.
"Bye, the half!!" he simply said, rushing her to get out.
He had started calling her like that when their parents bought a new house. They had to live together, and both of them were not too fond of the idea. They whined, screamed, bitched, but in the end, it was something that had to be done anyway. Jared never wanted to call her sister, like his mother had wished, and not even half-sister, like Livia's father proposed. He thought "sister" was a title she didn't deserve, so he took it off of the nickname he should have had for her. Half-sister became half, and with time, it turned out into "the half", expressing everyday his disapproval of this new marriage. Livia was not hurt to be the target of his anger, somehow, she liked this nickname, although she interpreted it in an other way.
She rolled her eyes, her lips forming half a smile as Jared grinned back at her in a childish way, quickly grabbing her bag to hand it to her. She made the same move and gripped his fingers instead, sending a shiver run up her spine. She wanted to take her hand back, but she actually liked the touch of his skin against hers, and somehow, he was not moving either.
The only times they'd touch was when they'd fight. Livia always managed to push him to make sure he was irritated to the extreme. It was easier to blame everything on him if he was screaming louder than she was. If they wanted, they could get along very well, and both of them knew it, but it seemed to be too much work on both of them. Their pride wouldn't allow them to make the first move for a peace deal, and anyway, it was much more fun to let out your frustration on someone who'd do exactly the same.
This time, the touch was different. Jared looked up at her, his facial expressions impossible to decipher. After some seconds that seemed more like minutes, Livia grabbed her bag roughly out of Jared's hand and raised her eyebrows.
"Didn't your mother tell you that touching something that belongs to a girl was a very bad idea?"
Jared laughed, distorting her words into perverted thoughts and she rolled her eyes at his childish behavior.
"I would never follow this advice."
"If you do it again, you're dead." she threatened, getting out of his car and ignoring his sexual remark.
She roughly closed the door as he kept laughing.
"You inherited of your father's sense of humor!"
Livia turned around, but before she could reply anything, he drove away to the parking lot. She remained motionless, looking at his car leave and rolled her eyes. They both liked to tease each other about their parents and genetics, but deep down, Livia loved her new mother. The one who gave her birth left when she was 7 years of age, and Livia never forgave her for her desertion. But at first, she was not happy that someone dragged away her father from her ; she was used to have him for herself, sharing him only with her little brother who didn't really care much. With time, she grew affection for Maggie, way more than for her kids, who took, she thought, way too much space and oxygen.
She walked inside and took her book for her first class with a sigh ; the last year of high school was really painful. She was going to be late, and she rushed to the classroom, hoping her friends had saved her a seat next to them, her arm loosely put around her books. She made a quick movement to engage herself into the next corridor, and her gigantic math book slipped, falling roughly on the cold floor. Livia stopped running and bent down to pick it up, getting herself on her knees and cussing silently at herself, her lips moving without a sound, but before she could reach the book, an other hand grabbed it and she looked up, meeting a pair of ocean blue eyes.
He grinned to her, the way he always did, but somehow, his eyes seemed to sparkle, stealing a smile from his step-sister.
"Watch your steps, clumsy!" he whispered, handing her the large book.
She took it and he raised his eyebrows at her, getting back up and leaving with four of his friends without waiting for a comeback from her. Livia frowned, wondering why this encounter left her nervous. She noticed she was now alone in the hall and sighed, getting up slowly. She was already late, some more seconds wouldn't make it worse.
--- +uhh yea, it pretty much sucks, i know. +and im sorry bout it. arg. +i may re-write this. not sure +Livia<33

Chapter 2 When the bell rang announcing dinner time, Livia rushed out of class, followed closely by her best friends. A large ammount of students had invaded the halls, all of them walking to the cafeteria or outside the building to get fresh air.
"Livia, wait!" she heard behind herself as she pushed one of the large school's doors.
The day light illuminated her dark hair and she frowned as the sun rays hit her face. A blond head appeared next to her, walking by her side as she moved towards a large tree and sat next to it, laying her back on the trunk and closing her eyes.
"Why did you have to leave so quick? We lost the others!" her best friend complained pointing the school.
"I needed out." she explained. "They'll find us anyway, Jesse. We sit here everyday for lunch."
"Alright," he sighed. "I'll go get something to eat. Want anything?"
Livia only nodded, her eyes still closed and took a big breath, oxygen filling her lungs. Behind her eyelids, her brother's blue eyes has flashed all morning to the point where she couldn't even concentrate. She had tried scribbling some poems, or drawing some cartoon character, nothing could keep her mind away from the way he had looked at her. It was weird how he had wanted her out of his car as quick as possible, but still had taken the time to help her pick her book. Different scenes from the past week played in her mind and she shook her head. It was the very first time he had acted this way towards her, she was almost sure. Even the way their skin touched in the car seemed different, and Livia had not wanted to pick a fight with him ever since. It was unusual, and she didn't like it. What was he trying to do? Be nice with her to back stab her more easily? Or was he sincere? Was it his way to say he had enough of their everyday arguments?
"You're alone?"
Her heart skipped a beat but she kept her eyes closed, not wanting to meet those eyes again.
"A real Sherlock Holmes, are you?" she simply replied bitterly.
Jared grinned and sat in front of her as she allowed herself to open her eyes carefully. She saw her brother, his legs up and his arms circling them. The light of the sun shined behind him, but never as bright as his eyes and mechanically, she bitted her bottom lip. She had never noticed how handsome he was, probably too busy to scream at him or find a mean remark, but now that she took the time to scan him, she couldn't deny it.
"What do you want?" she asked rudely.
Being mean to him was the only way she knew and although she regretted the tone of her voice, she knew it was the best way of defense. She was not going to fall for a pretty face, no matter how gorgeous it was, and especially not her own brother's. She repeated the word "brother" in her head five or six times, although she didn't really believe it ; in fact, he was not her brother, he'd never be.
He didn't answer her, and just kept staring at her. She noticed the right corner of his lips was slightly up in a mischievous and subtle smile, and it made her raise her eyebrows.
"So?" she insisted.
"Were you late for class this morning?"
"Is that really why you're here, Jared?" the brunette wondered suspiciously.
His facial expression didn't change and he kept looking at her.
"I care," he informed. "Is that forbidden?"
"It's not forbidden, it's weird." Livia grimaced.
"Do you want a ride home after school?"
She simply nodded without thanking him, still not fully trusting his intentions, and he sent her a warm smile before to get up slowly and wave at her. She looked at him as he joined his friends a little further, shaking their hands in a childish way.
"What was that?"
Turning around, she noticed Jesse's surprised look as it quickly changed into a disgusted one. He was well aware of the kind of relationship Livia and Jared shared, and it was as confusing to him as it was for the girl sitting in front of him.
"I have no idea." Livia whispered, still looking at her brother from afar.
---♥---
The ride home had been silent, and when they both reached the front door, Jared put himself in front of her, blocking the way.
"Move," she urged. "I just want to get in my room."
Livia tried to push him away but he put both his hands on her shoulders and she stopped to move suddenly. She could feel the warmth of his hands through her clothes, and she dared to look up into his eyes again.
"Wait." he asked in a low tone. "I was wondering if we could put a hold on our daily fights. At least, for today."
The question took her by surprise, but she didn't know if his words were more confusing then his touch. Once again, she only nodded, scared her voice would betray her and he smiled at her, letting go of her. He opened to door and motioned for her to get inside. She didn't take the time to wonder anything and rushed upstairs, in her room before to close the door. She sighed and stuck her back on the door, laying her head on it as she waited for her heart to get back to his normal beat. She had no idea what was happening exactly, and thinking about it would make it worse.
A soft knock at the door made her jump silently and she supressed a scream.
"Are you okay?"
His voice resonated in her head. He was close, only a piece of wood was separating them, and she licked her lips, trying to calm herself down.
"I'm fine, Jared." she let out in a sweeter way than usual.
"If you need me, I'm in my room."
She heard his footsteps, his door closing behind him, and than an awkward silence invaded the house. She moved slowly to the right wall and laid against it. He was on the other side of it, and she wondered what he was doing. She had never cared before, but at that exact moment, that's all she could think about.
She had no idea, but he was stuck on the other side of the wall, wondering the exact same thing.
--- +was it good? I'm not sure +plz tell me the truth! +thanks sooo much Jessie, Julie & Savannah! <33 +Livia<33

Chapter 3 The sun was starting to set when Maggie called everyone downstairs. Livia was not really interested in food, but skipping dinner would bring too many questions she didn't have the strength to answer. She opened the door of her room just in time to see Max and Emilie pushing each other near the edge of the stairs.
"Get out of the way!" Emilie yelled with a frown, pushing roughly Max on the banister.
Livia made a grimace at the two of them. She couldn't help but see younger versions of Jared and her fighting, bringing to her mind the past conversations she had with him. She closed her door behind herself when she noticed her younger siblings were already downstairs, but just like she was going to follow them, Jared walked out at the same time. Instead to bring on a fight, like he normally would, he sent her a smile and motioned for her to go first. She stared at him a second, unsure of what she was supposed to answer and finally leaded the way to the kitchen.
She grabbed her usual seat and her step brother took the one next to her, making everyone frown at his behavior. Max, who was gone to get himself a glass of water, put it roughly on the table and sent a mean look to him.
"What exactly do you think you're doing?" he asked. "Get off my chair!"
Livia made a grimace, waiting for the storm to arrive but instead, Jared turned to her brother with the same smile she had seen him wear all day long.
"I don't see your name written on it." he simply informed.
Confused, Max turned to his father for help.
"Dad!" he whined.
"He's right." his father replied. "Just pick an other seat."
If it was possible, Max would have killed Jared right this second, but with an exaggerated sigh, he went to sit down next to Emilie who quickly moved her own chair further of his, making Livia try to restrain a smile.
"I don't have any disease, you know." Max pointed.
"You are a disease." the blond girl noted, making Jared laugh subtly.
He stopped immediately when he met his mother's face and coughed before to move his chair closer of the table.
"Emilie, apologize." Maggie pressed calmly.
The young girl rolled her eyes and let out a quick and low "sorry", making Max smile proudly like he had won a gold medal at the olympic games.
"So I hope you like this dinner." Maggie changed the subject. "I've tried something different."
Livia looked at the plate in the middle of the table and noticed a special mix of vegetables, chicken and mushroom soup. She stayed speechless, staring at her favorite meal.
"Are you okay, Olivia?"
She shook her head and turned to her new mother, sending her a smile she knew looked fake.
"Yea, it's just..." she tried to explain, moving her shoulders closer to her face. ".. My mother made this for me."
An heavy silence fell upon them, making everyone uncomfortable. Nothing could be heard, not even the sound of utensil hitting porcelain. Livia looked down at her empty plate, trying to lose herself into it ; she didn't like this atmosphere, and despised being the instigator of awkward moments like the one they were living right now. She cussed at herself mentally for being too honest until someone spoke.
"Get over it. She's gone, she won't come back." Max informed. "She doesn't love us."
The words made Livia feel like she was stuck between two walls that were getting closer and closer to each other, ready to suffocate her. The tension was almost palpable, and no one dared answering the cold comment. Livia pushed her chair and got up, leaving the kitchen at a normal pace, but when she was out of sight, she quickly ran upstairs and slammed the door of her room.
Roger sighed. He couldn't ground his son for something like this, yet nothing caused him more pain than seeing one of his children hurt. He got up but before he could make step forward, Jared stopped him.
"It's okay, I'll check on her." he stated, leaving surprised expressions on all the others' faces.
"Out of everyone..." Emilie only whispered. "What's wrong with him, today?"
---♥---
Slowly, Jared knocked at Livia's door, not even knowing what he was going to say. Still, he couldn't get himself not to care about her tears.
"I'm fine." she lied before he opened the door slightly, making sure to stay in the frame. "Oh, it's you."
He took her words as an invite and walked in, closing the door slowly behind him. She was sitting on her bed, looking suspiciously at him as he got closer to her, allowing himself to sit on her bed. He wanted to tell her something, anything to make her feel better, but instead, they both remained speechless. Jared was so close to her, Livia could feel the warmth of his arm on hers, making her really uncomfortable. This situation was even more awkward than the last one they just had been a part of, downstairs.
"I'm sure your mom loves you." he assured her.
"You don't know that."
Jared licked his lips and turned his whole body to her, sending her a compassionate look.
"What I'm sure of, is that you have a lovely family downstairs who cares about you."
The brunette's lips curled, noticing he had not included himself since he was with her, upstairs. She had no idea why it made her feel better, but it did and she moved her head on the side, studying him once again. He seemed sincere, and it scared her for a reason she ignored.
"I have no idea why you're acting this way with me, Jared." she admitted. "And I'm not sure I like it."
He frowned to her, his face expressing sadness like she had hurt him. She was not going to let him act this way towards her, she couldn't let the feelings inside of her get the best of her. Once again, she used the only way to close the conversation.
"Go." she ordered abruptly.
Shocked, Jared got up and she did the same, ready to push him to the door in case he wouldn't move. Just like she expected, he remained standing there, focusing on her facial traits. He opened his lips to reply something but she didn't let him.
"You heard me?" she insisted.
Slightly, he moved his head from left to right, unable to express anything. Livia sighed loud and took his arm, trying to pull him to the door.
"Out!" she shouted this time.
In a fast movement, Jared grabbed her wrist and brought her closer. She had not expected it as he bent down and reached for her lips, tenderly kissing her as he let go of her arm. It was innocent and simple, but to both of them, it felt like the rest of the world had disappeared. Sweetly, he parted her lips to kiss her deeper, in a way she had never been kissed before. It was a mix of passion, and shyness, and neither of them dared to touch the other, hoping to keep the moment perfect. Livia noticed her heartbeats accelerate as his lips brushed hers again, leaving her unable to move.
She forgot her mother, she forgot the rest of her family in the kitchen... she even forgot he was her step-brother. The confusion he had made her feel in the past hours disappeared, leaving more space for the emotions she had tried to suppress. It was obvious now ; Jared was not her half brother. He would never be. He was her other half. --- +im sorry. this is the kind of chapter you get when my boyfriend pressures me into hurrying. +if it sucks, plz tell me, and ill re-write it <33 +thanks sooo much Jessie & Julie! <33 +Livia<33

Chapter 4 The headphones on her ears, Livia skipped three of four songs from her ipod and waited for her favorite to come up. She had missed the rest of the dinner, and she believed Jared had too. Max had knocked at her door a while ago to give her a piece of banana and nuts cake, but although she had accepted it, it was still waiting to be eaten, on her bedside table.
The kiss she had shared with Jared was still playing over and over in her head, making the sensations of that moment alive and vivid inside of her. She was ashamed to admit she had hoped for more, and even if the feeling of his lips against hers was breathtaking, she was craving his touch more than she could have imagined. She turned around in her bed, placing herself on her side, facing the wall, and hummed the lyrics of the song she was listening to.
His behavior had changed immediately when they broke their kiss. He had scratched the back of his head, probably because of the awkwardness of the moment, had muttered something inaudible, and had left, closing the door behind him. The whole day, he had been acting weird ; too friendly, too interested in her, and now, he was running away from her without any explanation. It hurt her more than it should, and if she was not so afraid of what he was going to tell her, she'd go up to his room and ask him frankly what was his problem.
She had never cared before to be blatantly honest with him and she sighed, knowing that a simple kiss changed it all. Every time a song was ending, she was tempted to just get up and go knock at his door, but she was pushing back the moment, telling herself she'd listen to "one last song". She had done it for hours, and still didn't find any courage inside of her, like it had died with that same kiss
His face came in her mind again and she smiled despite herself, trying to suppress the painful yet so special feeling running in her veins. This wasn't right, she knew it. In fact, it was completely wrong. She was attracted -she didn't want to think of the word love- to her new mother's son, and normally, it was supposed to make her grimace. Somehow, it was not. In fact, it made her happier than she had been in a long time.
She took a big breath and closed her eyes, her lips curling at the thoughts of him and his mouth against hers. She wanted it again, she wanted more, and that's all she could think about. It was disturbing her to the point where she knew she'd never be able to sleep on that night, unless everything was sorted out.
Before she realized it, everyone had gone to bed, leaving the house into darkness and total silence. Livia put her ipod on her bed, along with her headphones and bitted her bottom lip, pushing her teeth a little too hard and hurting herself. She cussed under her breath and passed her hand in her hair. She didn't know what to do with her own body, because her mind was leaving no place left in her brain to any movement.
Something caught her eyes, and she got up, ready to try anything to get her mind off of her step-brother. It was laying under her door and she frowned, picking the white sheet in her hands. Millions of thoughts ran in her head in the two seconds it took to find the words written on it. He had rushed his handwriting and she frowned, trying to decipher it. It was not new ; guys couldn't write well to save their life. She was especially used to Jesse's bad handwriting and if she had to compare, Jared's was not too bad, after all.
"Please, knock at my door." she read out loud to herself.
Pressing her lips together, she stared at her door, wondering for how long was this message waiting on the ground. She shook her head, trying to get the courage to finally go talk to him. After all, she now had a very good reason to go. She moved suddenly, sure of herself but still cautiously to be sure she wouldn't wake up anyone, and stood in front of his door. She only had time to knock softly on the door once and he answered quickly, as she suppressed a scream.
With a quick head movement and a large smile, Jared motioned for her to get in and closed the door behind her. She walked in and then turned around to face him, her hands on her hips, obviously waiting for an explanation.
"Took you long enough." Jared pointed out, ignoring her questioning look.
"I hadn't seen your message before." she replied, licking her lips as his voice calmed her.
How many thoughts could she have saved if she had found the message before? She cussed interiorly at her own self for being so lunatic and moved her head on the side. He stood in front of her, looking at her intensely, making her very insecure on how she looked. She shook her head ; after all, she was not going to care about her appearance with him now would she?
"Why did you leave so quick earlier?" she found the guts to ask.
Jared moved closer and instinctively, she backed away, regretting her move immediately. She had wanted him close to her for hours, and now that he was giving it to her, she was refusing it.
"You know why I did." he simply expressed, still staring at her.
She knew it, it was awkward. It was the weirdest situation she had put herself into, and it was stressing her, but at the same time, she knew she couldn't escape it in any way, because it was also very exciting, and it troubled her mind.
Livia let her arms fall on her sides, capitulating and making his smile grow bigger. His eyes sparkled a second, making a shy smile appear on her lips.
"I like you." he let out in one breath.
She looked at him, speechless, her mouth slightly open. With three simple words, he had destabilized her completely, to the point where she could barely still stand up. She was mad at herself for letting his words take full control of her body, but she was touched. Her heartbeats had accelerated, and it amplified even more when he took a step closer carefully.
He reached for her hand and she let him take it into his, watching his every move. The warmth of his hand, and the sweetness of his touch as he brought her to the bed made her want to run away, but she restrained that emotion defense from taking over. She was curious and impatient to discover what he was going to do, what he was going to say... like everything he did, even the most imperceptible movement was worth analyzing.
Now that they were once again sitting very closely, next to each other, she took the time to study his room. The walls had been painted a dark shade of blue, and posters of bands were decorating them. It surprised her that it was actually clean and she laughed silently. She had inherited of her mother's organization sense, which was almost non-existent. Her room was always a mess, and somehow, right then, it reflected exactly how she felt. Jared's room was the complete opposite. It even seemed like he had his own private maid, which was unusual for a guy his age.
She didn't have time to think more about his fashion sense as he quickly but softly grabbed her shoulder, turning her so she was facing him, and finally freely kissing her again. Passion was more obvious this time and he kissed her deeper, wrapping his arms around her petite frame. Livia moved closer to him, answering his kiss without thinking of the consequences, or the fact that the members of their family were only some meters away from them.
Slowly, he pushed her on the bed and they stuck their bodies to each other naturally, like they had been a couple for a long time already. His large hand brushed her arm and she allowed hers to slid around his waist, their lips still stuck to each other's.
The tenderness of his touch made her hope for more, arousing her like nothing before, but she knew it was not the time. He knew it too, or it seemed, as he finally broke their kiss with a low sigh. They both laid more comfortably on the bed, facing each other and smiled, without really being sure why.
Jared grabbed her hand and intertwined his fingers with hers, still staring at her, his eyes now sparkling with no shame. He was very close to her, and it made her feel alive.
"I had noticed you before." he blatantly expressed. "It was the first day of high school. Your brown hair was shining in the sun, your green eyes were glittering like all the stars of the sky took refuge into them during the day time, and the first thing I thought was that I had never seen a prettier girl than you."
He paused, obviously scanning on her facial traits, as she kept her lips shut, pushing them together to contain her tears. He was making her day without even knowing it, and just as she thought he couldn't surprise her more, he did.
"So you can imagine how bad I felt when my mother presented me her new boyfriend and their kids, and that I saw you standing there, almost pouting and clearly unhappy about this whole situation." he laughed. "I couldn't resign myself, I couldn't put a definite cross over you. To me, it was impossible to even think about it."
Jared let go of her hand to caress her cheek with his palm. It was unbelievable. She wouldn't trust him if he wasn't stroking her face so delicately, his fingers then slipping in her hair.
"I tried to hide it, I tried to make you believe I couldn't stand you, and at some point, I almost believed it myself." he smiled sadly as thoughts ran in his mind. "But then I'd hear your laugh and all the work I had done on myself to contain this feeling inside of me disappeared, leaving me with a hole inside my chest."
He stopped talking and moved his face closer to hers so their noses touched, before to steal a kiss from her lips once again. He remained near, and she inhaled his scent. It sent a rush to her brain, like he was some sort of drug she knew she'd never be able to live without after tasting it.
"I'm crazy for you, Livia." he whispered. "Now I know I can never ever stop this feeling."
She couldn't reply, she couldn't speak at all. And anyway, it was not needed. She let him embrace her, each of his body part touching her somehow, and closed her eyes as he brushed his lips on her, anywhere he could reach. She had pushed away the word the whole day, but now she couldn't anymore. It was love.

Chapter 5 The dreams of the night had been depraved of nightmares, and the sun woke up Livia, peeking its rays through the curtains. She could never sleep with light, not even the subtle one of an alarm clock, and she grimaced as she heard the birds sing.
Jared was peacefully sleeping next to her and she smiled looking at his chest going up and down slowly as he breathed. She licked her lips and moved her hand cautiously close to him, letting it slip into his hair, making sure her movement was sweet enough not to wake him up. He was gorgeous, even when he was sleeping. Unlike her, he didn't snore, or slept with his mouth open. She grimaced thinking he may had seen her do one of the two or worse, both. She sighed, ready to turn around on the other side, too lazy to get up but frowned instead. So many things had happened in the past 24 hours she was not sure exactly where she was at. The rest of the world had been almost non-existent since they shared their first kiss, and somehow, a lot of things came back to her mind, bringing her suddenly back to reality.
It was a school day, now she was sure about it, which meant she shouldn't try to fall back asleep, depending on what time it was. She grabbed Jared's wrist quickly and noticed the time on his watch. They were supposed to leave in less than twenty minutes, and her heartbeats accelerated suddenly at the thought of being late. She let his arm fall back down on the bed, making him groan and got up. She knew he was half-awake now and she decided to shake him.
"Jared, it's late!" she informed.
He moved his body into a more comfortable position but kept his eyes closed, letting out a short moan. Obviously, he didn't want to wake up, and Livia thought the past day had done to him exactly what it had done to her.
"Jared!" she repeated. "It's a school day!"
He sighed and dared to half open his eyes, scanning her with a blurry vision. A smile curled his lips and he reached for her arm, grabbing her wrist like he had done the past evening before to pull her back into bed.
"Who cares." he whispered. "Hug me."
Livia rolled her eyes and put herself back on her feet, turning her body to him.
"It's not that I don't want to, but maybe we should get ready instead."
It sounded more like a definite decision and he sighed, forcing himself to sat on his bed slowly.
"School will still be there later in the day." he argued. "Don't sweat it."
Livia frowned, not used to his behavior. He was always the good student who thought school was the most important thing in the world, and she had a hard time believing he'd want to ditch, ever.
"You're the one telling me not to sweat it?" she wondered in a surprised way.
"And you're the one who tells me I should?" he replied, a mischievous smile on his lips.
She rolled her eyes but couldn't hide the smile forming on her lips as she turned around, ready to leave his room. Jared got up quickly and surrounded her body with his arms from behind, laying his chin on her shoulder and making her smile full.
"Don't try this to charm me." she threatened. "I have to take a shower."
He shivered at the last word and Livia poked her elbow inside his chest playfully.
"Shut up!" she added, laughter escaping her lips.
"I didn't even say anything!" he defended himself, letting go of her to raise his arms in the air in an innocent movement.
His smile couldn't lie though and Livia giggled, reaching for the door to get out of his room. As she closed it carefully behind her, she moved to get into the bathroom but someone was standing next to her, making her jump in surprise and fear.
"Fuck, Max, you scared the shit out of me!" she admitted, a hand on her chest as if it was going to help the spasmodic rhythm of her heart.
"What were you doing in his room?"
The way he had said the pronoun made Livia's nose move into a subtle grimace. She had never thought about the rest of her family, and how they would react to what had happened between Jared and her. It was, in fact, at the bottom of her priority list.
"I just went there to wake him up." she blatantly lied. "You know how he is."
"With the same clothes you wore yesterday?"
Livia bitted her bottom lip, searching in her mind for a good excuse.
"I fell asleep on my bed, last night, listening to music." she bluffed again. "That's why I need a shower right now."
"A cold shower, yea." he hinted.
She opened her mouth to clarify things, or to deny his theory, but he didn't give her the time to.
"Why would you care anyway if he was still asleep." he frowned suspiciously. "You never cared before."
Livia took a big breath, annoyed with her little brother's constant questions and sent him a rude look.
"If you want to know, your comment of yesterday hurt me, and he consoled me." she said truthfully. "I owe him this, to the least."
To cut the conversation straight, she ran to the bathroom and closed the door roughly behind her. She loved her little brother, but it seemed like Jared's sister was rubbing off on him, which she didn't particularly like. Emilie was the one who normally liked to get into other people's business, and Max was not doing a good job at being a good little brother who'd mind his own.
---♥---
The car ride was silent. Not because Jared and Livia had nothing to tell each other, but simply because Livia's father had persued them to bring Max to school for once. His bike had broken the day before, and Roger thought that skateboarding to school was not safe enough, and way too far. Livia knew her brother would try dangerous tricks with his bike, and that it was probably why it was out of use at the moment, but she still cussed mentally the whole time of the ride, for the simple reason she felt like holding Jared's hand, or simply feel free with him to do and say whatever she wanted to. With Max in the car, it was impossible.
Jared pulled on the side of the street and parked the car, and Livia looked on the backseat, raising her eyebrows to her brother.
"Fine, I'm out." the young boy sighed, rolling his eyes in an obvious way.
He didn't send them a last glance and ran to some kids his age. All of them had skateboards, and somehow, Livia knew he just belonged there. She was used to his behavior by now. He had been into a hard part of his life for a while now. She remembered she had this phase when her father and Maggie started going out, and she, too, was a pain in the ass at that time. When Max was out of sight, Livia turned around to Jared, noticing he was staring at her again.
"Who do we tell?" she asked, her facial expressions reflecting the fear she had ever since that encounter with Max, earlier in the morning.
"The world."
Jared bent over to reach her lips but she backed away mechanically.
"What?" he asked, clearly hurt and annoyed by her rejection.
"You're my brother. People will talk."
Jared sighed and moved his head lightly from left to right.
"First off, I'm not your brother, and second, I don't give a flying fuck about other people!"
Those words sounded rude, but somehow, Livia understood them more than he thought.
"I'm sorry." he apologized immediately. "I'm just not going to let that stop us from living this relationship freely."
He sighed and looked at her from the corner of his eyes before to reach for her fingers. She liked his touch, warmth yet strong around her hand as he firmly gripped them. She licked her lips, wishing she actually had the guts to face every other student in school, walking hand in hand with Jared.
"What about our parents?" she whispered as this thought popped in her mind.
"They'll understand." he affirmed with conviction.
His voice was sweet, and deep, and she felt a shiver run up her spine. She moved her head in his direction and sent him a shy smile, nodding. He had no idea, but she'd follow him everywhere, and would do everything for him. It was scary, but very refreshing and new. She had never felt this way before, and somehow, she hoped it would never end.
This time, she looked at him as he moved closer and put his hands on her thighs, brushing his lips against hers. She closed her eyes and kissed him back, butterflies hitting the inside of her stomach softly and allowed her arms to slide around his shoulders, bringing him closer.
Blood was not something they had in common, no one could think this love was wrong. After all, love is never wrong. ---♥--- +uhm, was it okay? yes? +thanks sooo much Jessie & Julie! <33 +Livia<33

Chapter 6 For the very first time, Jared and Livia got out of the car at the same time, in front of school, and walked side by side. Livia tried to keep her head straight, but somehow she couldn't manage to keep her eyes off the ground, looking at her feet as they brought her to the entrance. She quickly moved her gaze up and she stared into Jared's glittering eyes, bringing a shy smile on her lips as he opened the door for her. Just looking at him made her unable to move, and although she was reluctant at the idea of facing everyone's reactions, she couldn't help but think what they thought wasn't worth worrying about.
"Screw them." she thought as she stepped foot inside.
Jared's hand caressed softly her back and his touch made her shiver. She knew everything about the passion of the first days, but she wanted to think it was different, this time, and that it wouldn't fade away after three months of relationship. The thing that was unusual was to actually live with her boyfriend, and although she had heard it could break a couple, she had a different opinion on the subject. They each had their own rooms, and the same parents and it was not their house or their bills. Actually, they had all the advantages of living with your loved one, and none of the problems. This thought made her grin, wishing they could already go home and cuddle just for the sake of it.
Mechanically, she brushed her fingers on his before he firmly gripped them, just as she noticed her friends reunited near the lockers. She stopped dead in her tracks, indecisive about the way she should approach them.
"Too soon?" Jared whispered, raising his eyebrows.
She nodded lightly, scared of hurting him and although he clearly was, he moved his head slowly and his hand let go of hers immediately.
"I'll get enough questions already about the reason that pushed you to actually follow me to my locker."
This sentence brought back a smile on his lips. She wanted to be with him, and the public display of affection was not needed.
"Will you allow me to escort you to class?" he asked with a short laugh.
"Don't push your luck." she laughed too.
"It was worth a try." he shrugged, his lips still curled.
As their footsteps brought them both near Livia's crew, she took a big breath, searching for courage. They were her friends for so long, they'd understand and support her no matter what. She tried to believe in her own thoughts but a weird feeling ran through her veins. It was not something common, and therefore, she didn't really know what to expect. She wanted to believe her friendships were strong enough, but she had no idea how people would react, and her mind told her to anticipate the worse.
Jesse noticed her and waved at her, his lips moving into some sort of greeting, but he lost his smile suddenly when he noticed who was walking by her side, adding a confused expression to his flawless face. He was one of the greatest persons she knew, but she was also aware that his forward attitude could create more mess than it was worth. Still, he had helped her through the hardest parts of her life, and if only him would accept her relationship with Jared, it would be enough for her. It was not really important anyway, because he had a leader soul, and if he accepted it, everyone would.
"There's something wrong with this picture." Jesse commented with a frown.
He had somehow moved closer to the two lover birds, leaving the rest of their friends behind as they kept talking, not noticing the important discussion that was starting.
"What is it, Jesse?" Livia asked, avoiding his eyes.
She opened her locker as Jared laid his back on the one next to hers, his hands in his pockets. He had decided to talk only if needed, or if his girlfriend would ask him something.
"You're walking here with him, and he's actually waiting for you." he noticed. "Are you two high or something?"
Livia dared to look up into her best friend's eyes. His eyebrows were up in a questioning way as he waited for an explanation. Livia stared at him some more, the rhythm of her heartbeats getting quicker by the second. They both remained motionless until Livia simply shrugged at him and finally took her books for her first class.
"Let's say we called a truce." she simply replied, closing her locker with a loud noise.
Jared smiled when Jesse's face twisted into a grimace and couldn't resist in one last move before to leave. Quickly, he grabbed Livia by the waist and brought her closer, firmly crushing his mouth on hers. Surprisingly, she replied to the kiss.
"I'll see you at lunch, babe." he whispered loud enough for Jesse to hear.
With one last grin, he left and she looked at him until he was out of sight, now ready to face her best friend's reaction. After all, there was no better explanation than an actual demonstration.
---♥---
The bell rang, almost waking up Livia and forcing her to open her eyes. The lack of sleep could now be felt through every part of her body, and she grimaced. It was one of the toughest things for her, to be tired, and she sighed, getting up despite herself. She was happy with her conversation with Jesse, and although he didn't seem completely sure of Jared's intentions, he still accepted the fact that there was something between the two of them. She had been stupid to think her own best friend would let her down, or try to lecture her, and she rolled her eyes at her fears, a smile curling her lips. It had been easy, almost too easy to believe it. She felt stronger with Jared by her side, and now that she knew her friends would accept it, it made her happier than ever. Everything was going so well, and she felt a burst of excitement coming to her, the kind of happiness that makes you want to dance instead of walk and sing instead of talk.
Lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice Jared coming her way, his lips curled into a satisfied smile. He grabbed her hand and she jumped, grinning as soon as her eyes met his. He laughed shortly and pulled on her arm, bringing her into the next hall. It was desert, since everyone was in the cafeteria or outside for lunch, and with no shame, Jared's lips quickly found hers. The warmth of his breath sent a shiver running over her body and she grinned as she kissed him back.
She had missed his touch, and the way his fingers brushed slowly on her arm, as his other hand was wrapped around her waist brought her into the same ecstasy she had experimented the night before. No one else before him had succeeded to make her feel so alive, and she liked to believe no one else would ever be able to. It was the way he looked at her so intensely she felt her cheeks burning, the way he touched her, sometimes passionatly rough, sometimes so softly like he didn't want to break her... it was the way he talked in her ears ; his words that made her want to give herself completely to him... it was simply his way to be totally crazy for her, and it made her want to spend forever with him.
It was too good to be true ; he was too perfect to be true. And although she had noticed some of his flaws already, she could easily turn them into good qualities. He was short-tempered, but it was because he wanted to tell everyone that he was with her. He was arrogant, but he just wanted to help her telling her friends they were together. He was too confident, but that's because he believed in their love.
Jared pushed her on the wall slowly, maintaining his body with one of his hands laying on it as he kept kissing her. She allowed her arms around his neck and brought his head closer, trying to kiss him even deeper. After a while, his lips left hers and he grinned, staring into her eyes. Livia bit her bottom lip at how handsome he was, and moved her head on the side. He had been there all along, for so many years, but she had noticed how quick he made her heart beat only some hours before. She had no idea why she had been so blind, but perhaps she was too busy hating on him to actually notice the person he really was.
"I think you just got the dessert." he laughed, as she joined her laughter to his.
She friendly slapped his chest, making his laughter increase and he took her hand into his.
"I'll let you join your friends, and I'll go meet mine." he proposed, his heart-shaped lips curling more.
Livia nodded and he stole one last kiss from her lips. She was almost used to it by now, since he practically did it all the time, but it brought a special feeling inside of her every single time.
"Bye, sweetheart." he whispered.
She liked his independence, and the way he respected her and her habits. Instead to leave right then to join her friends, Livia laid her head on the wall and closed her eyes, memorizing the perfect moment that had just occurred. With a happy sigh, she grinned. She missed him already.
---♥---
This time, the ride in the car was better. Max had found a way to go back home by himself, and Livia enjoyed her alone time with Jared. She always managed to touch him somehow, like he could disappear if she was not, and he accepted the fact that she couldn't feel at ease if one of her body part was not on him. Actually, he liked it more than he should.
Jared parked the car in the driveway and turned to Livia, his eyes once again sparkling in a way she never thought they could until the day before. Bringing his face closer to hers, he brushed her lips once again, but couldn't help to kiss her deeper.
"We tell our parents tonight?" he almost begged, staring in her eyes.
He was very close, and the smile that hadn't left her lips for more than twenty-four hours grew even more. She fought the urge of kissing him some more, and simply nodded. His wish granted, Jared grinned and got out of the car. Livia followed him inside, remaining behind him.
"Hello, we're home!"
She laughed silently at his behavior, moving her head lightly from left to right. None of them would ever inform their parents that they were home, and the fact that he was blatantly doing it would only make them frown, hinting there was something unusual happening.
"We're in the kitchen."
Livia frowned surprisingly at her father's voice. Not only was he already back from work, but she also noticed an hint of fear in his voice. She shook her head, telling herself it was just a dream and they both walked to the kitchen.
"It's not true, is it?" Maggie wondered, looking at his son.
"What's not true?"
Jared had lost his beautiful smile and was frowning, tearing some happiness from Livia's heart.
"You two aren't...."
Maggie closed her eyes and took a big breath, but Roger finished her sentence.
"A couple.."
Surprised, Livia's eyebrows raised up, and she noticed Jared's reaction had been the exact same.
"How do you know?" escaped his lips in a low tone.
"So you are." Roger noted as Maggie put her hands in her face.
"Who told you?" Livia dared asking again.
She was going to kill her little brother. Besides Jesse, he was the only one aware that something was happening between Jared and her, and although he was not aware of everything, he had been suspicious, and he was smart enough to put the pieces of the puzzle back together. Anger filled her veins at the thought of him revealing something that was none of his business, to their parents.
"That's not important." Roger commented rudely. "I hope you two know this is impossible."
"What?"
Livia could hear anger in her boyfriend's voice, and she took a big breath.
"You heard us, Jared." Maggie expressed sweetly. "You two are brother and sister."
Jared laughed sarcastically, clearly mad at this point, as Livia just stood there, speechless.
"We're not blood related at all!" he yelled.
"This will not happen under my roof!" Roger argued back.
"Did anyone ask me what I thought about you two together?" he let out. "For all you know, I've been liking Livia longer than you two have been into each other!"
Jared let his backpack fall roughly on the floor, shaking his head.
"Honey..."
"No! No honey." he cut his mother rudely. "I don't care what you guys want, okay! You're not gonna ruin this!"
Witness of a fight she didn't want to be a part of, Livia licked her lips. She was so confident after telling Jesse that everyone else would accept the love she had for Jared and that he returned so easily, that she never expected the storm that was fuming at this moment. Subtly, she grabbed Jared's fingers, her skin softly brushing on his. He seemed to ease, and he came back to a normal tone of voice.
"You have simply no idea how long I've waited." he explained. "Throw me out of your house if you want to, but this is what we are, and will be, from now on."
With one last move, he put his hand up, showing their intertwined fingers and shook his head.
"Now if you'll excuse me, I have homework to do."
Livia once again followed him upstairs, her hand still in his. As soon as they were out of sight, she let tears invade her eyes and fall quickly on her cheeks. She couldn't believe the most beautiful thing she had ever lived would be so short, and so hard to let go.

Chapter 7 Her vision completely blurred, Livia let her boyfriend pull her into his room before to roughly close the door, expressing the enger running inside his veins clearly. When he turned around to face her though, his traits softened at the sight of her tears, and he kindly put his hands on her shoulders, bending to look into her eyes.
"Don't cry." he whispered softly. "Everything will be fine."
His voice relaxed her and she nodded, trying to suppress her sobs. Gently, Jared grabbed the sides of her head with his hands and moved his thumbs on her cheeks, wiping the tears, letting a sad smile move across his lips. She tried to return it, but her shaking lips betrayed her fears. She wanted to be strong, but she couldn't, and the thought of being away from him made her heart shatter. It was not her fault if she had fallen for him. She didn't decide it, but if she had to choose, she'd still feel for him exactly that ; a kind of love that's so deep and real it was burning her insides.
"I shouldn't even be in your room." she managed to inform through her pain.
Jared looked at her before turning his attention to the door. Quickly, he walked up to it and locked it before to come back to her.
"There's only you, and me." he mentioned, taking her hand in his and bringing her to the bed.
Livia sat down, looking at the floor as more tears escaped from her eyes. It was not fair, this she was sure of, but fighting against her parents seemed to be something impossible ; nothing good would result from it. She knew her father well enough to understand it was over.
"There's no hope." she said, her voice breaking.
"Don't say that, please." Jared begged. "They can't check on us twenty-four, seven. We'll find a way."
His determination made a small smile appear on her lips and she sighed, laying her back slowly on his bed. Jared smiled too and laid next to her on his side, his head maintained by his hand, putting his free arm around her waist. Both of them kept silent as he moved his hand tenderly over her stomach, trying to make her feel better. She closed her eyes, trying to get rid of the bad vibes coming from downstairs and took a big breath. His touch made her feel secure, and for a second, she thought they could surmount this obstacle, but it faded away very quickly when her father's words came back to her mind. She didn't want to be pessimistic, but it would be a very hard battle, and she didn't want to fight. All she wanted to do was cuddle with Jared. At this thought, she turned on her side to face him, her eyes still closed and he immediately pulled her closer. His lips quickly found hers, tasting the dried tears she had been crying some minutes before. She answered his move, kissing him like it was the very last time she'd be allowed to, her hand sliding on his cheeks and jaw, then up in his hair. He fondled her back, daring to go down until her butt. Livia jumped slightly at his initiative but relaxed quickly, moving her leg up around him to feel closer to him. Their affection display grew more passionate until someone roughly knocked at the door, making them both stop at the same time. Jared sent an annoyed look in the noise's direction while his girlfriend got up, stress invading her insides.
"Stay here." He told in a low tone, squeezing her hand shortly before to walk up to the door.
Immediately after he unlocked it, he just had time to move before back the door flew open. Roger stood there, his facial expression clearly reflecting his thoughts about the two of them together in a room.
"What, now?"
It was the very first time Jared was rude towards his step-father. He normally took his anger on his mother, and Livia's eyes got bigger at his words. Roger didn't like this kind of behavior, and he had always been very strict with his children, probably due to his past job. The old marine ignored Jared's comment and looked straight in his daughter's eyes.
"Out."
He had used a low tone, but his voice was cold. He was serious. Mechanically, Livia stepped forward but Jared quickly put his arm to block her way, making her stop immediately.
"We were not doing anything wrong."
This time, Roger entered the room, his imposing stature getting closer to the two lovers and he simply pointed the door, still staring at his progeny, frowning. Reluctantly, Livia took a quick glance at her boyfriend who let his arm fall on his side, allowing her to leave. She looked down, ready to leave, but a hand roughly grabbed her arm, pulling her, and Jared gathered her into his arms, hugging her as close as he could.
"Eleven." he whispered before to kiss her cheek and let her go.
Roger grabbed her arm rudely and closed the door behind him, bringing a sudden and uncontrollable pain inside Jared's stomach. He sat back down on his bed, his elbows on his knees and let his head fall into his hands in a desperate movement. This whole situation was a nightmare. Soon, he would wake up and realize that's all it was. Only, the high speed of his heartbeats clearly showed he was alive and awake, and in a sudden surge of anger, he got up and grabbed the first thing he could reach, throwing it in the nearest wall. He looked at his broken lamp on the floor and took a big breath ; at least, it made him feel somewhat better. He checked his watch, knowing he had some hours to kill before to get to be with Livia again. At least, he'd see her at dinner, downstairs, but he grimaced at the thought of facing every member of his family. He knew they'll be watching his every move, expecting some romantic gesture from him towards Livia, and he tried to think of something subtle he could do. He knew the best thing would be to do nothing at all, but he couldn't resign himself to this plan. He was not going to let them think he was okay with their decision ; he was not going to let them think they were right. Because what they were doing was anything but right.
His door opened slowly in an annoying noise, and he frowned when he noticed his little sister, her arms crossed, laying against the frame. Without thinking, he got up and walked up to her frowning angrily.
"Get out!" he ordered, pushing her and then giving a swing on the door so it would close.
Emilie stopped it and walked forward, but Jared stood there, blocking her way inside and looked down at her.
"What the fuck do you want, Emilie. I'm not in the mood."
"Because you're not allowed to be with your girlfriend?"
She sent him a mean smile, showing her not-so-straight but bright white teeth as she looked into his eyes.
"You..." he stopped himself. She raised her eyebrows, inciting him to continue. "You betrayed me?"
"Come on, it's not like it was going to be a secret for a long time." she shrugged. "You were going to tell them anyway, weren't you? I just accelerated the process."
Jared opened his mouth to reply but still remained speechless, staring at the young blond girl standing in front of him. He didn't remember the last time he had been so mad at his sister, but he was sure this time she had reached a new level of meanness.
"They didn't need to find out through the intermediary of a little bitch."
"Jared, you're way too emotional. It will lose you, someday." she replied, ignoring his insult. "They know, that's what you wanted."
"But because of you, they had time to think about it, and come to bad conclusions." he expressed louder. "They don't want to hear what we have to say!"
"Well, I guess you should be more cautious next time you kiss your girlfriend at school." she grinned again. "Perhaps the halls are not as desert as you think."
With one last mean smile, she walked away. Jared looked at her leave, his lips twisting into a grimace before he slammed his door. He took a big breath, oxygen filling his lungs, but it didn't calm him as much as he expected. Emilie had the bad habit to always get into his business. He didn't know why she felt the need to make his life miserable, and sometimes, he even liked Livia's brother more than his own blood sister. This time, she went too far, and he couldn't let her get away with this betrayal.
"She'll pay for that."
---♥--- +finally. sorry took me so long! +plz forgive the mistakes, i dont have time to check. +is it okay? plz, the truth. +oh, and did you expect it? +Livia<33

Chapter 8 The sun was slowly setting, spraying different colors through the blue sky as Livia stared by the window, her head laying against the frame. With a sad look, she let out a sigh from her lungs. Things had not gone the way she had expected and she couldn't take her mind off of the fact that Jared and her had thrown themselves into a relationship that didn't seem possible. The way her father had looked at her was beyond anything she had ever lived before. He seemed angry, yet extremely disappointed. He tried to hide it, but Livia knew him better than anyone else, and the glimpse in his eyes told her there wouldn't be an easy way out ; his decision was final.
She slowly put her forehead on the glass of the window and closed her eyes, trying to stop the tears that desperately wanted to fall on her cheeks. The love inside of her stomach screamed to get out and consumed itself, but her father had brought her to her room, and he didn't have to say a word for Livia to know she better stay there. She put her hand on the window, feeling it cold beneath her fingers and she shivered, breathing louder. She quickly moved out and drew a heart in the glass, childishly adding a L and a J inside. She didn't know why, but it brought a smile to her face. She lost it immediately after and turned around. The house was calm and she decided she needed something to drink. At least, going downstairs and coming back in her room would help her kill some minutes.
She dared to take a look at Jared's closed door, biting her bottom lip. She hoped he'd come out of his room just to take a look at him, but it seemed silent and she simply walked downstairs slowly, taking her time. As she was about to get inside the kitchen, she noticed her father and Jared's mother sitting at the table. She quietly but quickly backed away, knowing her father wouldn't be pleased if he saw her and she stopped moving, her eyes closed, scared they could have seen her. She didn't hear anything and was ready to get back upstairs, but their conversation made her curious.
"Maybe we're going too far."
Livia frowned and decided on remaining hidden.
"We're not, Maggie." she heard her father's voice. "They are just teenagers. They'll eventually break up and than this house will be more of a mess than it already is."
"Maybe they're sincere and really love each other." Maggie added. "Maybe this relationship would last."
"No teenage relationship last. They're young."
"I met my first husband in high school." she argued.
"Yes, and look where that lead."
Livia rolled her eyes at her father's rudeness, barely believing he could say something so wrong. She fought the need to show herself and remind him the woman he had married was not exactly wife material either, and simply grimaced. He was not being fair, and his anger was taking upon his good sense. Her father was not someone who'd scream, making his words even more painful. Probably even more hurtful than he wanted them to be. He was not a bad person, he just had no tact what-so-ever. Livia had inherited of his need of control and she hated that part of herself.
"I'm sorry." he then apologized.
Livia guessed Maggie had been hurt by his words, and it most likely reflected on her face. She found herself feeling compassion for the woman in the next room, even though she had been against Livia and Jared's relationship.
"It's alright, you're right."
Putting her nose up in a grimace, Livia was annoyed by her step-mother's behavior, thinking she shouldn't have given in that easily.
"I don't want this family to be destroyed over again." Roger expressed in a sweet voice. "I don't want us to live that over again."
"I understand." Maggie sighed. "But at the same time, I feel really bad for them. I had no idea Jared had had feelings for your daughter for a long time. If I had known I would..."
She stopped herself and let out a sigh again.
"What could you have done, darling?" Roger asked. "There's nothing we could have done."
"I just... didn't expect that."
"I didn't either." Roger admitted. "But I think it's best for them to break it off right away. I won't change my mind."
Anger filled Livia's whole body and showed on her face before she quickly ran up back to her room. It was not fair. They wouldn't give up their love for her, why would she have to give hers up for them? She wanted to slam her door but fought against it, knowing it would betray her. Instead, she walked up to her computer and pushed play before a rock song came to her ears. She put the volume as high as possible and threw herself on her bed. At least, it would annoy them for a while and this way she could express her anger subtly. She punched her pillow a couple of times but managed to control herself to be calm again. When her song ended, she sighed, feeling close to tears until something else caught her attention ; a soft knock on the wall. Right after, knowing he had her attention, Jared put on a song that Livia recognized immediately.
"You're a falling star, You're the get away car. You're the line in the sand when I go too far. You're the swimming pool, on an August day. And You're the perfect thing to see.
And you play your card, but it's kinda cute. Ah, When you smile at me you know exactly what you do. Baby don't pretend, that you don't know it's true. Cause you can see it when I look at you."
Livia's lips curled, a special sensation filling her insides. The message Jared was sending to her was not only meant to calm her down, but also to tell her how much he loved her.
"And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times It's you, it's you, You make me sing. You're every line, you're every word, you're everything."
Somehow, she managed to laugh a little. Perhaps it was simply out of shyness, and she brought her arms around her, hugging herself.
"You're a carousel, you're a wishing well, And you light me up, when you ring my bell. You're a mystery, you're from outer space, You're every minute of my everyday.
And I can't believe, uh that I'm your man, And I get to kiss you baby just because I can. Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through, And you know that's what our love can do."
She walked closer to the wall and stuck her hand on it, although she knew it was useless, biting her bottom lip once again. She was barely believing the good luck she had through all the bad luck.
"And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times It's you, it's you, You make me sing. You're every line, you're every word, you're everything. You're every song, and I sing along. Cause you're my everything. yeah, yeah."
All she wanted to do was run up to him and kiss him, but she knew it was a very bad idea. Instead, she knocked too on the wall and walked back up to her computer, pressing play to the song she wanted to use to answer him. The pop music filled her room, and she started singing along with it.
"Love can be complicated Too often mistranslated One word for all dynamics leads to problematics
Emotions and affections Feelings in all directions Sometimes a simple action Creates satisfaction
And as long as you are mine I will take the time To let you know What I feel for- cuz"
Jared was smiling, listening to the lyrics of a song he never heard before. It was girlish, and way too pop for him, but the words made him happy, knowing she felt them.
"All I need Is everything you are Complete And if you ever fall I'll be Here standing in the shadow of my heart."
This idea came to him suddenly, when he clearly guessed Livia was angry by the sound of the harsh punk song she had played. It was simple, yet a little cheesy, but it was the only way they could communicate at the moment.
"Cherish, is lost to chatter Mind games over matter Not looking for suggestions More answers, with questions
I speak with hugs and kisses 'Cause true love never misses I will lead or follow To be with you tomorrow
And as long as you are mine I will take the time To let you know What I feel for-
There's nothing you could ever say, boy... [there's nothing you could ever say] To make me wanna walk away
And as long as you are mine I will remind [myself] This love is real"
The sound of her voice singing along with it made him happier than he thought it would, and he surprised himself grinning like an idiot. Unfortunately, before the song was over, he heard his mother's voice call them down for dinner and he grimaced. He rushed to his door, ready to wait for Livia to her out of her room to actually walk downstairs, and she had done the same. They looked at each other, both standing in front of their rooms and Livia saw his eyes shining. She liked it. She wanted to touch him, just to be sure he was actually there, but she didn't there. They didn't even exchange a word. Jared looked around and walked up to her, stealing a kiss from her lips quickly and then moving his head slightly, inciting her to follow him downstairs.
Everyone was still sitting in the kitchen, waiting for them and they both lost their smiles at the sight of their parents staring at them. Instead, an angry expression could easily be read over their faces. The only two empty chairs left were far from the other and Livia sighed without any shame as she took place next to her brother, who looked at her with a sorry glance. She sent him a mean look and turned to Jared who moved his head negatively, trying to tell her Max was not the traitor. Livia only frowned, not really understanding but she didn't have time to wonder more since Maggie had put the meal in the middle of the table. She looked at her plate as everyone started to fill theirs with food. She looked up at Jared, who weirdly didn't seem hungry either.
"Come on kids, eat, or it'll be cold." Maggie proposed in a sweet tone.
Reluctantly, Livia started putting food in her plate, and ate it really quick.
"I'm not very hungry." she explained. "May I be excused?"
Everyone turned to Roger who simply moved his head, telling her to leave the table. Livia grabbed her plate and put it on the counter before to head for the stairs. She heard the sound of a chair moving and than the cold voice of her father.
"Not you. Sit down."
With one last sigh, she walked to her room, telling herself she couldn't wait for 11pm already.... but she had four more hours to kill.

Chapter 9 Waiting for the minutes to pass, Livia stared blatantly at the clock beside her bed. The red numbers became dizzy after a while, making her blink more than she normally did, but she remained motionless. Her thoughts were fast moving in her head, though, as she kept thinking about the events of the past days. It was not how things should be and she wanted desperately to be mad at her parents, but the main feeling invading her was some tearful pain down her stomach, bringing tears to her eyes. She was not sure if it was out of love, or because she would have to stay away from the only guy she's ever loved, but either way, it became unbearable. She was near bursting when the red numbers quickly changed to 11pm, and she slowly got up from her bed, licking her lips, her ears listening for any noise coming from the other side of the door.
She knew everyone was asleep, or she thought so ; she had heard all of them get upstairs, take a shower and slam their doors. Plus, she knew her father was quickly asleep, and her new mother never went to bed late. Her brother, however, was a different case, but most of the time, he had his headphones on until he fell asleep, which would probably leave him unaware of what was happening. Livia didn't know Emilie enough to know her routine, and she never cared before. At this exact moment though, she wish she knew.
Turning her knob extremely slowly, she stopped breathing, like it was audible and bit her bottom lip, her eyes tighly closed. Nothing was heard, and she walked cautiously next door. She didn't want to knock, and risked herself to just walk in. Jared was lying in his bed, staring at the ceiling but moved his head her way when she came in.
A smile instantaneously appeared on their faces and Livia walked up to him, sitting next to him as he brought his hand behind her head, pushing it down gently. Their lips touched briefly and Livia sat up straight, still looking at him.
"Didn't anyone tell you it's impolite to walk in without knocking?"
"I didn't know you followed rules now?" she joked, her smile growing.
Jared smirked and moved his body up, maintaining himself with his elbows before to quickly steal a kiss from his girlfriend's lips. It was unbelievable how every time they'd touch, Livia would feel a sudden rush to her brain, and she tried to hide the shiver running on her back without much success.
"Are you cold?"
She moved her head from left to right slightly and brought her shoulders closer to her face.
"I missed you."
"I missed you too." he whispered caressing softly her cheek with his thumb. "I thought we could get to the beach house this weekend. This way, we could get some peace."
Livia rolled her eyes and sighed, bringing a frown on Jared's face as he sat up next to her.
"What?"
"Our parents will never let us go. You know they'll be on our backs 24/7, from now on."
Jared's face became suddenly serious, and Livia tilted her head on the side to take a better look at him. It seemed like he was searching for some sort of non-existent solution that would make them love each other freely, with or without their parents consent. She didn't know this rebel side of him, like something had changed in his behavior. Then again, she couldn't say she really knew him ; she never took the time to do so. It always seemed completely useless before.
"We could simulate a break up."
She surprised herself, like this idea had just popped suddenly, coming out of her throat. Perhaps, it wasn't such a bad idea, after all.
"What? No!"
That was the reaction she expected as soon as the words escaped her lips. Jared had been quite defensive with their parents, and giving them what they wanted didn't seem like his way to view things. He was not going to give up, and let them think they were right to doubt their love. If she wanted to be honest with herself, Livia didn't like this thought either, but it was the best solution.
"Think about it though, we could be together and they would stop annoying us."
"And live some sort of secret relationship?" Jared grimaced. "Sounds like a bad idea."
"We already have to hide ourselves, it wouldn't change much."
Jared took a big breath before to turn to face her. Her clear green eyes seemed to beg for his approval and he sighed, desperately, knowing this was the only way out of it.
"I'll think about it." he finally promised, making Livia's smile grow.
She liked the idea of being alone with Jared, and if the price to pay was a fake break-up, it was worth it. She knew it would probably be hard to go back to how they used to be toward each other, and even if everything had switched completely in only some days, she didn't like the fact that they'd have to keep insulting each other.
"What do we do now?"
Jared grinned and quickly slide his arm around her waist, laying her down on him, her hair falling on each side of his face as she contained a laugh. He moved his hand in her hair, putting a lock behind her ear and moved up to taste her lips again.
"How did dinner go?" she asked as he kissed her an other time.
"Silent." he laughed.
"You know I'm going to kill my brother."
Jared grimaced and moved her body slowly next to him, making her frown. He turned on his side to face her and she did the same.
"Don't. It wasn't him. It was Emilie."
Livia's eyes became larger, her mouth opened and her whole face reflected surprised, giving her an innocent look.
"Emilie? How?"
Jared suppressed a smile at how cute she was and just shrugged.
"She saw us in the hall."
"Oh."
Livia looked away, her cheeks turning a soft shade of red, embarrassed that they had been caught on one of their intimate moments. She had to expect it, though, and she knew it. After all, it was in school, not anywhere private.
"Why did she tell?" she continued.
"Because she just adores pissing me off, that's why."
Jared let himself fall on his back with a sigh. He never had a close relationship with his sister. It seemed they were just too different from each other, making any close encounters impossible.
"Or maybe she needs attention?"
The way Livia's words came out made Jared frown again. Her voice was soft, and he turned to her, hoping to leave this conversation behind. Trying to change the subject, he moved forward to steal an other kiss but this time, his girlfriend backed up.
"I'm serious, Jared." she explained. "Maybe Emilie wants you to care for her, and the only way she has to is to make you mad."
"That's ridiculous." he denied, shaking his head.
"No, it's not. You give her attention when she pisses you off, don't you?"
"Yes, and she clearly doesn't deserve it."
Livia remained silent, trying to avoid a confrontation but Jared kept talking.
"Emilie and I don't have the same relationship you have with Max. It's... different." he expressed.
"It doesn't have to be."
"Your mother leaving brought you two closer. My parents divorcing brought Emilie and I further from each other."
"You should try to talk to her." she proposed.
"What if I don't want to?"
Livia stared in his eyes for a minute, trying to read his thoughts, like something was being left unsaid about their parents' divorce, and the way everything happened, but she didn't ask. It was not any of her business, and she was not going to force Jared into befriending his sister just because he could. This time, she moved closer to him and put her arm around his waist, her head lying on his pillow. It was not really on the top of her priority list. Even if it sounded selfish, all she wanted was to be with Jared. She didn't need anyone's agreement on their love. It was obvious, and it was deeply graved inside of her. If Emilie wanted to ruin it, she'd have to put a lot of effort, because Livia wasn't going to give up. She would fight.
"Maybe we should get a rest?"
Jared nodded and brought the covers over the both of them, turning around to turn off the light but Livia stopped him quickly.
"I meant, in our respective rooms."
She wanted to stay more than anything, but it was a bad move, and she knew it.
"Please, stay?" Jared pressed, his nose stuck on hers. "Please?"
He brushed his lips on hers and she felt her heartbeats accelerate. She was so close to giving in as she felt his warm hands on her waist, under the covers, but she managed to get back to her senses and shook her head negatively.
"Bad idea."
She threw the covers away and saw the sad expression he was wearing, inciting her to kiss him fully, her body stuck to his once more. He tried to maintain her on the bed, but he reluctantly let her get up after some seconds, and she walked to the door carefully. As she opened the door, she turned around and smiled to him, regretting her decision but knowing she had to.

Chapter 10 It took Livia hours before to be able to fall asleep. Her heart was beating hard against her chest at the thought of the boy in the next room. She should have stayed with him. After all, they could have put an alarm on early so she would have walked back to her room without anyone noticing. Many times, she had wanted to just go back to him, but she was too stressed to take the chance. Everything seemed to go wrong, and since she was nervous by nature, Livia had a hard time to deal with the problems laying in the middle of their way. It was not fair, that was obvious, but there was nothing she could do to change it, and repeating it over and over again was not going to help.
When her mind escaped reality, she started having dreams of Jared and her. The way his hands caressed softly her body, his skin brushing hers and giving her shivers made her imagination run wild. She liked the thought of them together at the beach house for a whole weekend, only the two of them together. There was some sort of passion burning her insides, a passion that clearly needed to be consummated, and her bold dreams only increased her desires, proving that she really needed more from this relationship.
After a while, her sexy dreams turned into nightmares, waking her up often during the night. They were separated, and her father was sending her in an other state to make sure they would never be together. After the third time waking up crying, Livia stopped counting the times it happened. She just wiped the tears away over and over again, trying to keep in mind that it was just dreams, but she knew reality was almost just as worse.
At seven in the morning, she decided to remain laying down on her bed watching the ceiling, although she was completely exhausted. It seemed like she had not slept at all, and she knew the day would be rough and long. She started thinking about the fake break-up, and how it could make things easier, but also so much harder. It was also very dangerous : if their parents found out, maybe her nightmares could materialize. She bit her bottom lip and her eyes moved to the walls. She put her hand on it, feeling the cold and grimace before to take a big breath, firmly sticking her lips together.
"I love you." she whispered.
She was not ready to tell him, but it didn't mean she was not feeling it. Somehow, though, she wanted to take her time. Jared and her had done anything but take their time, and these words meant so much to her that she was not going to waste them : she was going to wait for the right time, and the right place.
When her alarm rang, her eyes were already wide open, and she knew she'd suffer from insomnia for as long as these problems and thoughts would run inside her head. It couldn't continue, they had to take a decision together, and quick because the lack of sleep was something she tried to avoid.
With a sigh, she pushed the covers away and got up, choosing an outfit and dressing herself up by habit. She was torn between the impatience to see Jared again, and the stress of the conversation they needed to have. When she was ready, she got down the stairs, her backpack over her shoulders and quickly grabbed a banana on the kitchen counter. She decided to wait for Jared outside, and she was just done with her improvised breakfast when the door opened. He appeared in front of her, and her lips curled immediately into a smile. Their eyes met and he smiled back, his eyes shining at her sight.
"I missed you." he admitted in a low tone, grabbing her by the waist and bringing her closer.
She wanted to push him away, scared that their parents would see them, but she couldn't resist when he brushed his lips on hers, sending electric shocks in her entire body. She wrapped her arms around his neck and allowed her hands in his hair as he caressed her back sweetly. Every time, it felt like they had not seen each other for weeks, and Livia felt the passion in the way he touched and kissed her.
After a while, he broke their embrace and smiled at her again, intertwining their fingers and pulled her to the car. The ride to school was silent, but the brunette spent the whole time staring at her boyfriend's profile, stars in her eyes. If anyone had told her a week ago that she and Jared would be in love, she would have laughed at them, but now that it was happening, she knew it was meant to be. Her hopes about their relationship went up and down like a roller coaster, changing often. Right now, she knew it was the fight it could start with their parents.
"I wish you would have stayed with me last night." he finally broke the silence after her parked the car.
"Me too. I should have." she confessed.
Jared took her hand in his, fondling softly the top and bent over for an other kiss. She closed her eyes, enjoying the moment before they both got out of the engine. He walked far from her, knowing she was not ready to display their love and she bit her bottom lip. At that point, she didn't care about anyone else but them and without thinking, she got closer, grabbing his hand firmly. He frowned, surprised by her behavior but it quickly turned into a grin as he squeezed her hand in his.
Her lips curled, feeling proud to finally let their love in the open, and she knew that by the end of the school day, everyone would know they were a couple, which surprisingly excited her more than it probably should have. They walked together into school, and none of them noticed the weird looks on people's face, or heard the whispers about them. It didn't matter anymore. They had bigger problems than that.
"I'm happy." it escaped her lips in a low tone, and she immediately felt embarrassed by her words.
Out of an impulse, Jared took her and pulled her into a kiss in the middle of the hall as other students walked around them. Livia allowed herself to reply to the kiss and felt butterflies hit the inside of her stomach. He followed her until her first class and stared at her, shaking his head lightly.
"What?" she asked frowning but her lips still curled.
"I can't believe it."
She didn't have to ask, she knew exactly what he was talking about. In fact, she couldn't believe it herself. With one last peck on the lips, she entered the room as she heard the bell ring. The quick footsteps in the hall made her smile even more, imagining her boyfriend running to his own class. She took a seat next to Jesse who looked at her with a funny grin spread on his lips and she reached out to push him in a friendly way.
"Don't look at me like that!" she insisted.
"It's just funny." he explained. "I've never seen you like that."
She didn't reply, but deep down, she did feel different. She was not used yet to this new feeling, and hoped she never would, because never in her life had she felt so alive.
---♥---
When her teachers let everyone go for lunch time, Livia rushed out of class to meet Jared by his locker. As she walked rapidly in the hall, she noticed him coming from the opposite way and accelerated her speed. She only felt at ease when their fingers touched and he hugged her close. Closing her eyes, she inhaled his body odor like some sort of drug and brushed her cheek on his shirt. It probably seemed awkward to everyone else around, but it didn't matter.
"The day is half over." she expressed. "I don't want to go back home."
It was not supposed to be this way. Normally, school was not her fave place to be. Even now that she was with Jared, she should want to spend some time alone with him, but the mob of students around them seemed like a small price to pay to be allowed to spend time with him. At home, everything they were doing at this exact moment was restricted.
"We'll find a way, I promise."
"Did you think about my idea?" she wondered, pulling away reluctantly but still keeping her arms around him.
He nodded, looking down at her, but she could read in his eyes that he was still not found of the idea.
"This double game is a pain in the ass." she argued more.
Jared opened his lips to reply but something caught their attention. Standing next to them was their principal, and he didn't seem very pleased with what he was seeing.
"You two." he started, pointing them with two of his fingers. "In my office. Now."
Livia's heart started beating faster immediately, while Jared simply grabbed her hand firmly. She admired his courage, and wished she could do the same, but she couldn't help it, she was scared. Scared that everyone would try to take away the best thing that ever happened to her.
In silence, they walked until the principal's office and got in, taking the seats in front of his desk. Livia's eyes followed him as he placed himself in front of a large rolling chair that made an annoying noise as he sat in it.
"Do you young people know why you're here?"
Livia remained motionless, but Jared, lay his back on the chair with a sigh.
"No." he answered. "We were not doing anything wrong."
The principal sighed, imitating Jared, and crossing his fingers together, staring at both of them. His facial traits had curved into a frown, and the seriousness of his expression made Livia lick her lips out of nervousness.
"Your parents called."
It didn't take more information to Livia to know exactly what this circus was all about. Not only were they not allowed to be together at home, but now, they would also be separated at school. Jared was going to answer something, Livia knew it. She also knew it wouldn't be said politely. Subtly, she grabbed her boyfriend's hand and she felt his fingers tighten around hers.
"They don't want you together." the principal added, taking his glasses off and putting them on his desk.
With an other sigh, he brought his fingers to his nose, massaging the top softly. Obviously, he was not liking this, but he didn't really have a choice.
"If I see you two again together, I will have to inform them." he threatened. "And your father said he'd send you to a private school."
This time, he was looking directly at Livia whom's eyes had gotten larger in surprise. This couldn't be real, not, it couldn't. Without thinking, she pinched her own self and made a grimace at the sudden pain.
"I'm sorry." he continued, surprising Jared this time. "I'm normally not against love, but there's nothing I can do for you two."
He then got up from his chair and they both knew the speech was over. They got up at their turn, still holding hands but the half-bald man behind his desk coughed. Livia understood the message he was trying to send and let Jared's fingers go, biting her bottom lip as she tried to contain her tears.
They walked side by side until the school's yard and when they were far enough, Livia stopped dead in her tracks, turning around to the only guy she's ever loved.
"Now, do you agree with the fake break-up?"
Jared put his hands in his pockets and shook his head.
"I will never be." he admitted. "I think we need to fight."
Livia crossed her arms over her chest, balancing her weigh from foot to foot.
"And then I'll be sent in a private school and we'll only see each other on weekends." she explained. "Is that what you want?"
The young man rolled his eyes and took one hand out, trying to reach her, but she backed away, taking a look behind him. She knew someone was watching them.
"You know it's not." he said sweetly. "I couldn't bare to be away from you."
"Than you know what we have to do."
She let her arms fall on each side of her. He had this way to look at her and to raise her hopes up that made her loose all her senses.
"Alright." he capitulated. "When?"
"Friday."
---♥--- +wow, it took me so long to update this. +i'll try not to take so long for the next chapter +is it okay? plz, the truth. +i'm really unsure if it's good. +Livia<33
