⚡ Chapter 1★ Friends Forever ★ The sun was setting when Julie sat down at the top of the stairs, near the entrance of the Gryffindor's common room. Trying to suppress her will to cry, she inhaled deeply and closed her eyes letting a simple teardrop make its way on her cheek. She quickly wiped it off and sniffed.
She could barely believe it. She really thought she had found a soulmate in Jason but obviously, her love radar had been off all this time. She loved him. Or at least, what she felt was the closest to love she could think about.
There was no reason to keep asking herself questions about why he did it and what made him do it. In the end, it wouldn't change anything.
"Julie?"
The pretty brunette quickly looked up and dived her gaze in her worried friend's eyes. Jessie moved a lock of her light brown hair behind her right ear and walked the stairs that separated her from her friend.
"What's wrong?" she asked in a low tone.
"Nothing." Julie shrugged, looking away.
Jessie sighed and tilted her head, frowning at the girl sitting in front of her.
"Don't even try." Jessie said, folding her arms on her chest. "You can't lie."
They stayed motionless and speechless for some seconds until Julie sighed, capitulating.
"Jason broke up with me."
"Oh..." Jessie let out in a whisper, sitting next to her friend, on the same stair. "I'm sorry, Jules."
Julie shrugged and shook her head, avoiding to look at her friend. There was nothing anyone could do. Only time would heal the pain, she knew that, but all she wanted was to be past this.
"I'll survive." she expressed with a sad smile.
Silence took place between them for about a minute until Jessie got up, grabbing her friend's hand and bringing her downstairs. Julie followed with a frown but half-way, she couldn't keep her question in.
"Where are you taking me?" she wondered.
Jessie's lips curled into a smile but she didn't answer. She stopped in front of the great hall and pushed the door, taking a glance at the Slytherin's table. A pretty blonde smiled and waved at her subtly. The brunette she was talking to turned around to take a look and grinned when she saw her friends, moving her hand in the air at her turn.
Jessie told them to come in a head movement and they immediately got up to walk to their friends. A bunch of students from different houses stared at them until the doors closed back behind them.
They were used to this kind of attention. It was rare that Ravenclaws and Gryffindors would befriend Slytherins and vice-versa but for these girls, it didn't matter. Jessie was the typical example of a Ravenclaw. Smart and creative, she always wanted to learn new things. If she reads it once, she'll remember it forever. Julie, although a little more timid than other Gryffindors, was extremely courageous. She had lost her parents when she was younger and had taken care of her little sister who was also a Hogwarts student, now. She was also always ready to take the defense of her friends.
Normally, though, she didn't need it. Her three best friends had a very strong personality and would not let anyone walk on their feet. Janie and Livia were very alike, which probably explained why they were so close and both in Slytherin. Proud, real and extremely cunning, the two friends succeeded to still get respect from the students in their house even though they "fraternized with the enemy".
"What's wrong?" Livia finally asked when they were out, sitting on the lukewarm slabs, in a corner of the yard.
Her green eyes moved from Julie to Jessie back and forth as Jessie explained everything. Janie was staring at Jessie the whole time and when she was done, the blond girl looked around, probably searching for the boy.
"Is he gay or something?" Janie asked with a grimace. "I mean, who could break up with Julie?"
It brought half a smile on Julie's lips but she quickly looked down, raising her eyebrows.
"Janie's right." Livia noted. "We should kick his ass."
"At first, that's what I wanted to do too." Jessie admitted. "But I thought it was stupid to focus on him. We should focus on Julie instead."
The two others nodded, agreeing with the cute Ravenclaw girl.
"When something like that happens, the best thing to do is change your mind from it."
Livia nodded and a smile draw itself on her lips. "Tomorrow, let's skip class all day and do whatever we want to do. Whatever Julie wants to do."
"I don't know..." Julie argued.
She was okay when it came to infringe the rules, as long as there was a good reason to. This felt nothing like a good reason.
"Julie, if one of us had just been thrown away by their boyfriend, would you feel like this was a legit reason?"
Tilting her head, Julie had to capitulate. She would, in fact, gladly do it for one of them. These girls had been the best friends she's ever had.
"There. That's solved. Now, let's brainstorm."
